A philosopher, in a wide sense, is someone who studies philosophy. The term "philosopher" comes from the Ancient Greek  (philosophos), which means "lover of wisdom". The introduction of the terms "philosopher" and "philosophy" has been ascribed to the Greek thinker Pythagoras.
