Ear
The ear is the organ of the sense of hearing in the auditory system. In humans, the ear consists of three structures —the inner earmiddle ear and outer ear. The inner ear, contains the apparatus necessary to change the vibrations transmitted from the outside world via the middle ear into signals passed along the vestibulocochlear nerve to the brain. The middle ear, includes the tympanic cavity and the ossicles. The outer ear consists of the auricle or pinna, and the ear canal. The ear not only detects sound but also aids in balance and body position. The  semicircular canals, the utricle and saccule of the inner ear also function as organs of the vestibular system responsible for balance.
