The Protestant Reformation, often referred to simply as the Reformation (from Latin reformatio, "restoration, renewal"), was a schism from the Roman Catholic Church initiated by Martin Luther, John Calvin, Huldrych Zwingli and other early Protestant Reformers in the 16th century Europe.
