Franco-German border
The border between the modern states of France and Germany is essentially that determined in the Treaty of Versailles of 1918, when the Weimar Republic was forced to yield Alsace-Lorraine to the French Third Republic. It was  re-established after the defeat of Nazi Germany  in World War II.
