Legislative power
is vested in both the

and parliament. The party system was dominated by the
Congress for Democracy and Progress
until the
2014 Burkinabé Uprising
. Since then, the
Congress for Democracy and Progress
has lost influence and a variety of former opposition parties are vying for power in elections scheduled for November 29, 2015. The
Judiciary
is independent of the executive and the legislature.
