Broth
Broth is a liquid food preparation, typically consisting of water, in which bonesmeatfishcereal grains, or vegetables have been simmered. Broth is used as a basis for other edible liquids such as soupgravy, or sauce. It can be eaten alone or with garnish. If other ingredients are used, such as ricepearl barley or oats, it is then generally called soup.

Viktor Ferdinand Brotherus (28 October 1849, Sund, Åland – 9 February 1929), Finnish botanist who studied the mosses (Bryophyta), best known for authoring the treatment of 'Musci' in Engler and Prantl's Die Naturlichen Pflanzenfamilien.
