Agriculture is a vital industry in China, employing over 300 million farmers. China ranks first in worldwide farm output, primarily producing ricewheatpotatoestomatosorghumpeanutsteamilletbarleycottonoilseed and soybeans. Although accounting for only 10 percent of arable land worldwide, it produces food for 20 percent of the world's population.
