Tamworth is a large market town within an eponymous district in Staffordshire, England, located northeast of Birmingham city centre and northwest of London. Bordering northwest Warwickshire, Tamworth takes its name from the River Tame, which flows through it, as does the River Anker. At the 2011 census the town had a population of 76,900. Tamworth is the second largest settlement in Staffordshire after Stoke-on-Trent.
