Shimsky District is an administrative and municipal district (
raion), one of the
twenty-one in
Novgorod Oblast,
Russia. It is located in the west of the
oblast and borders with
Batetsky District in the north,
Novgorodsky District in the northeast,
Starorussky District in the southeast,
Volotovsky District in the south,
Soletsky District in the southwest,
Strugo-Krasnensky and
Plyussky Districts, both of
Pskov Oblast, in the west, and with
Luzhsky District of
Leningrad Oblast in the northwest. The area of the district is . Its
administrative center is the
urban locality (a
work settlement) of
Shimsk. Population: 13,312 (
