. On this day, Tamil people greet each other by saying "Puttāṇṭu vāḻttukkaḷ!" or "Iṉiya tamiḻ puttāṇṭu nalvāḻttukkaḷ!" . The festive occasion is in keeping with the
Hindu solar calendar
