The National Research Council (NRC) is the working arm of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine of the United States that produces reports that shape policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine. Unlike the other member organizations, which include the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the National Academy of Medicine  the National Research Council is not a membership organization.
