JOVE (Jonathan's Own Version of Emacs) is an open-source, Emacs-like text editor, primarily intended for Unix-like operating systems. It also supports MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows. JOVE was inspired by Gosling Emacs but is much smaller and simpler, lacking Mocklisp. It was originally created in 1983 by Jonathan Payne while at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Massachusetts, USA on a PDP-11 minicomputer. JOVE was distributed with several releases of BSD Unix, including 2.9BSD, 4.3BSD-Reno and 4.4BSD-Lite2.

The Journal of Visualized Experiments (styled JoVE) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes experimental methods in video format. It was established in December 2006. Moshe Pritsker is the CEO and co-founder. The journal is abstracted and indexed in Index Medicus, MEDLINE/PubMed, BIOSIS Previews, and Science Citation Index Expanded. The journal is based in Cambridge, MA. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2014 impact factor of 1.325.

Jupiter, also Jove ( , gen. Iovis ), is the god of sky and thunder and king of the gods in Ancient Roman religion and mythology. Jupiter was the chief deity of Roman state religion throughout the Republican and Imperial eras, until Christianity became the dominant religion of the Empire. In Roman mythology, he negotiates with Numa Pompilius, the second king of Rome, to establish principles of Roman religion such as sacrifice.
