Happy Feet Two is a 2011 Australian-American
3D computer-animated family musical film directed, produced and co-written by
George Miller. It is the sequel to Miller's 2006 film
Happy Feet. It features
Elijah Wood,
Robin Williams,
Hugo Weaving,
Magda Szubanski and
Anthony LaPaglia reprising their roles from the first film.
Pink voiced Gloria due to
Brittany Murphy's death in 2009, and
Richard Carter voiced Bryan the beachmaster due to
Steve Irwin's death in 2006, respectively.
Happy Feet Two is dedicated in memory of Irwin and Murphy.
Common also replaced
Fat Joe as Seymour. The original cast is joined by new characters voiced by
Hank Azaria,
Brad Pitt,
Matt Damon, and
Sofía Vergara.
Kennedy Miller Mitchell and
Dr. D Studios from
Sydney,
Australia, produced the film, which premiered in North American theaters on November 18, 2011 in
Digital 3D and
IMAX 3D. The film was released with a
Looney Tunes short called
I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat starring
Sylvester Cat and
Tweety Bird. The film received mixed reviews and lost $40 million, resulting in the immediate closure of Miller's Dr. D Studios.
