Gniezno
Gniezno (English and ) is a city in central-western Poland, some east of Poznan, inhabited by about 70,000 people. One of the Piast dynasty's chief cities, it was mentioned by AD 10th century sources, including the Dagome Iudex, as the capital of Piast Poland. The Roman Catholic archbishop of Gniezno is the primate of Poland. These circumstances give it in relation to Polish history a similar status to EsztergomCanterbury or Rheims.
