Southern Front
of the
Turkish War of Independence

Turkey
, was a series of conflicts fought between France (the
French Colonial Forces
and the
French Armenian Legion
) and the
Turkish provisional government
(the
Turkish National Forces
) from May 1920 to October 1921 in the
aftermath of World War I
. French interest in the region resulted from the
Sykes-Picot Agreement
and the subsequent
French-Armenian Agreement (1916)
that led to the establishment of Armenian forces under the French Army.
