The demographic features of the population of Kosovo are monitored by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics. It includes various factors such as population density, ethnicity, education level, health of the populace, economic status, religious affiliations and other aspects of the population. The demographic characteristics of the population are known through censuses, normally conducted in ten-year intervals. According to the first census since the declaration of independence, the permanent population of Kosovo had reached 1,739,825, excluding North Kosovo.
