On August 25, 2001, Aaliyah Dana Haughton, an American recording artist, boarded a twin-engine Cessna 402B at the Marsh Harbour Airport on the Abaco Islands, Bahamas after completing her work for the music video for her single "Rock the Boat". Accompanying her were employees of Virgin Records. The light aircraft, piloted by Luis Morales III, crashed shortly after takeoff. The crash killed Aaliyah and the other passengers instantly.
