Darren Throop is a Canadian businessperson in the entertainment industry. He is the CEO of Entertainment One, and has had a 20-year career building and managing entertainment companies. His career began in 1991 when he founded an independent chain of retail music stores. In 1999 he sold his business to CDPlus.com, a company he subsequently joined. In 2001, CDPlus.com was acquired by Records on Wheels and Throop assumed the role of CEO of the combined ownership entity – ROW Entertainment Income Fund (ROW). Throop diversified its operations through a series of acquisitions, including overseeing the purchase of Video One Canada,then Canada’s largest home entertainment company.
