Charles Martin Smith (born October 30, 1953) is an American film actor, writer, and director. He is best known for his roles in American Graffiti, Never Cry Wolf, Starman, The Buddy Holly Story and The Untouchables (all of which have loyal followings long after production) and for writing and directing the films Dolphin Tale ,Dolphin Tale 2 and The Snow Walker.
