Areekode
Areacode (also known as Areekode) is a village on the banks of the Chaliyar River in Eranad Taluk of Malappuram district in India. It is 25 km from Malappuram. Nearby places are MukkamThiruvambadyNilambur, and ManjeriNilambur-Koyilandy SH pass through here. It is believed that the name 'Areacode' was derived from 'Aruvikkode', which in Malayalam means 'river side'. Areacode is famous for its sevens football tournaments and there by known as 'Makkah of Football'. The area is mainly dominated by highly educated Muslims. When Muslims were backward and many were prevented from Modern education, Areacode was different. A high visionary Muslim Scholar and leader N.V. Abdussalam Moulavi led the community with vision. He laid the foundation for Jam Iyyathul Mujahideen- the organization, which is running most of the institutions now. He was educating the mass against all kinds of superstitious beliefs and led special classes on Holy Quran for the public. He was also keen in Educating women. His brother N.V Ibrahim Master was working in the field for creating awareness in the public about the importance of education. He was the founder Head Master of Sullamussalam Oriental High School, which gave importance to the Arabic language as well. N.V. Ibrahim, Master was the President of Areacode Panchayath for more than 20 years, showing a model governance of local body. Areacode has the highest number of Doctors, Engineers, Professors, Teachers, Scientists etc. in Malappuram District.
